Larry Sparkman’s Project Management BIO
Larry Sparkman began his professional career as a Math and Physical Education teacher in the late 70s but eventually moved on to the computer industry in the 80’s. He holds a bachelor’s degree in education, Master of Science on Movement Science, and Minors in Math and Computer Science, from Florida State University. Larry also earned a Master of Science in Project Management from the University of Management and Technology in Arlington Virginia in 2005.
Larry worked as Math Teacher and Coach in the late 70's and then as a Systems Engineer and Technical Manager for EDS in the 80s and 90s, on Medicaid and Student Loan accounts. He helped establish a Project Management Office for Computer Associates and Seva Technologies in the 2000s, managed a PMO for the Florida Northwood Shared Resource Center from 2012 to 2016 and worked as a Data Center Project Manager for the Florida Agency for State Technology in Tallahassee, Florida until his retirement from the State of Florida in February of 2021. After retirement, Larry continuted to offered part-time project management services to local Tallahassee companies until October 2025 when I fully retired from work.
Larry was also a High School and club volleyball coach for over 35 years begining in 1992. He held head coaching positions at John Paul II Catholic HS and Florida State University High School for 11 years, from 2003 to 2015, and was an assistant at Chiles High School from 2016 to 2025. The teams, for which he was a head coach, competed in the state finals twice with one State Runner-up finish. The His Chiles teams, for which he was an assistant, competed in the State finals three times and won the State Championship twice.
Larry and his wife Beth were married in 1973 and are the proud parents of Lisa and Scott, Grandparents to Laney and Bayleigh, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June of 2023. Larry also enjoys singing and playing an acoustic guitar for fun.
